    Good farmers should continuously seek new knowledge about their work. Farming is dynamic and agricultural practices keep changing. New markets for agricultural products often come with new conditions that have to be met. Time and again challenges crop up and a farmer will need guidance on how to overcome them. That guidance can be obtained in several different ways but it will take some effort by the farmer to access it. It is no use for the farmer to assume to know everything about his work. One way to acquire new farming knowledge is to look for it in newspapers and the electronic media. Many media houses now attach a lot of importance to farming and allocate considerable airtime and newspaper space to agriculture.

  • In the internet age, radio still rules the world

    On World Radio Day, UN says 44,000 radio stations broadcast to five billion people, or roughly 70 percent of the world.

    The United Nations cultural agency UNESCO has marked World Radio Day by calling for more freedom of expression and wider access to information in times of emergencies and disasters.

    While digital technology dominates the modern means of transmitting information, UNESCO said on Saturday that radio remains the primary source of information for most people in the world. “Radio still remains the medium that reaches the widest audience worldwide, in the quickest possible time,” the UNESCO statement said.

  • Guidelines for the use of Masks
    The Government has mandated that all Ugandans aged 6 years and above wear face masks when in public places to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19. When should one wear a mask? When going to public places e.g. work, public transport, markets, supermarkets, shops, classrooms, places of worship, healthcare facilities etc. When acceptable physical distancing (at least 2 metres) is not possible When one has a cough, cold or sore throat even when at home When at home and visited by a person who is not part of the household When in any congested area At workplaces, especially when with colleagues DO NOT wear a mask when running, jogging, digging, ploughing or doing other physical activities It is not necessary to wear a mask when you are alone in the car but have it ready in case you pick up another passenger during the course of the journey or when you get out of the car.
